Native starches
Manufacturing process
The following manufacturing steps are applied to the starch granules:
- milling: to free the starch from the cells
- centrifugation: to remove the fibres
- starch purification: to separate the protein and soluble material
Apart from these steps, other treatments are needed to separate specific constituents:
- maize: separation of maize oil
- wheat: extraction of vital wheat gluten
